AIMER alpha-gal nanoparticle cardiac tissue cardiomyocytes regeneration

Myocardial infarction results in significant loss of cardiomyocytes. Intramyocardial injection of 50 μg α-Gal NPs (20 nm diameter) in a rodent model of heart failure promoted macrophage infiltration (4-fold) and subsequent differentiation into functional cardiomyocytes, as evidenced by cardiac-specific gene expression and contractility measurements. Additionally, α-Gal NPs stimulated angiogenesis (increased CD31+ endothelial cells) and improved cardiac function (ejection fraction increased by 15%), providing evidence for their potential in cardiac regenerative therapy.
