In this phase the blood supply to the damaged or injured tissue is reduced through the process of vasoconstriction (constriction of blood vessels). This happens to reduce blood loss. Platelets also play their part and start clot formation.

  2. Inflammation: The curtain rises with inflammation, where the body's defense mechanisms mobilize to safeguard against infection. This initial response sets the stage for the healing process. It is characterized by swelling, pain, redness, and heat around the wounded area.

  3. Proliferation: Next, the body shifts gears to the proliferative phase. Specialized cells (fibroblasts, collagen fibers) start rebuilding the damaged tissue, forming the scaffolding for the new structure.

  4. Remodeling: Finally, the remodeling phase refines and strengthens the newly formed tissue and it is the final phase of healing. This phase is also called the maturation phase. During this phase scars may form, marking the completion of the healing journey.
